Soldiers' Angels Chaplain Support: Operation Angel Scout
We supply Chaplains with requested items related to their mission, and requested numbers of hand-out letters and gifts that can be easily distributed to those needing assistance whom Soldiers' Angels may not otherwise be able to locate and support. Items shipped can include everything from non-denominational chapel supplies to delicious food items for special group meals, cards for the deployed to send to family members for holidays and birthdays, and things like games, sports equipment, or books for recreation. Chaplain Lindsy J also joins us until April 2012. Her hope is to get our help in supporting a special effort they have inherited from the previous group. We are calling it "Operation Angel Scouts". Here's what she said: "We spend one hour, once a week with the local Afghan Girls. We usually have between 75-100 girls. We need ideas and resources to fill the time. Please send craft and game items such as crayons, glue sticks, coloring books bubbles, balloons, etc. Please be conscious of the culture and do not send Barbie or Disney or other items with Girl themes that may be offensive to the Afghans. They do no speak English, so reading materials aren’t the best. Care-Bear and other educational things are ok. Also, the girls are very EAGER to receive items so we MUST have 100+ of any item so that they will ALL receive one. If there isn’t enough they become very upset and get out of control. Of course, some items like coloring books can be shared with two or three.
