Gardendale, Texas -
Drilling continues to draw controversy in Gardendale where a group of residents is now forming their own organization and television channel to "hold an oil company accountable".
Some thought the drilling controversy was over when the incorporation was voted down in May, but according to one group of citizens, its all just beginning.
It's the newest news station in the Permian Basin, made up of some Gardendale residents who say they're trying to hold an oil company accountable.
The amateur news reports and an accompanying website make up a small-scale PR campaign aimed at Berry Petroleum.
"We formed an organization called the Gardendale Accountability Project to specifically hold accountable Berry Petroleum and any other drilling companies that show up on our property", says Dan Boggs.
Boggs is one of many residents who've long complained of problems with drilling in Gardendale.
GARDAP as it's called, features You Tube videos showing Berrys activity in Gardendale, including a property staked for drilling not far from a church and dogs stuck in mud pits that may be filled with chemicals.
Joe Paul Wood took samples from a mud pit on his property and had them independently tested.
The results showed the carcinogen, Benzene, at levels far above those allowed by the EPA.
But there's a catch.
"Everything that's in that pit has been exempted from the safe drinking water act, the clean air act, all those things that were put in place to protect us. That's what we're upset about, says Wood.
After Texas Railroad Commission reps came out to the site and couldn't do anything, GARDAP took action, writing a letter to Berry and making a video.

20 Years After Russia's Rebirth | Philadelphia News – Новости ...
Twenty years ago, Russia’s former Soviet Union began its final collapse. Since then, Russia has seemed to float in some abyss between really coming into its own and the former powers that bound them.
Thanks to Boris Yeltsin after the collapse of the Union, the country had its first taste of true democracy. However, Yeltsin soon gave way to his drinking and his almost irrelevant wars in the Caucasus; he was no longer seen as the prominent leader he once was. Soon, the nouveau riche gathered power and soon enough, Putin, a member of the KGB ranks, took over.
A recent opinion columnist on Yahoo has asked the question, “Why has more not occurred?” It’s a good question. With its rich heritage and beautiful landscape, free from the binds of the Union and the old monarchy, why has more not… happened?
Gregory Satarov, a former Yeltsin aide, puts it best, “”We saw the old train was taking us in the wrong direction,” he says, “but we thought all we had to do was change the conductor and we would have comfortable seats and good food. Democracy would take us where we wanted to go, not our own effort. Sometimes you have to get off and push.”
