2000 SVT Cobra R #002 To Sell At Barrett Jackson Las Vegas

In just over a week the Barrett Jackson Auction of collector cars will start in Las Vegas. Although it can not be larger Barrett Jackson event of the year, that title goes to Scottsdale, it still offers a great variety of Ford Mustang for the avid collector of cars to choose from. Such a vehicle that caught our attention this year is the lot # 636, a 2000 SVT Cobra R # 002.

When Ford created the Cobra R 2000 they knew that some buyers might use it on the track as it was intended.With this in mind they wanted to ensure that the most collectible models are not overwritten on the track so they chose to preserve a few of them. This includes the # 001, the first 2000 Cobra R never be produced and this car is the model # 002. After building the Cobra R was first exhibited at the '99 SEMA Show, where he shocked the crowds with his pace of thunder and the suspension of race worthy. After Ford's SVT division purchased the vehicle and used it as a pace car for months before finally being removed to a private collection. Now it is for sale!The Barrett Jackson Auction of collector cars will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on September 22-24. Crack open that piggy bank and get there!

The 2000 Cobra R was the fastest Mustang produced up to that time, and one of the few with only 300 made. The Cobra R Mustang SVT was only available in 2000. The 5.4L 32-valve engine produces 385 horsepower, 65 more than the '99 Cobra and '01.Really meant for the truck, the Cobra R has no air conditioning, radio or backseat and it was built with some of the highest performance components available, including Brembo brakes, Bilstein shocks and Eibach suspension. Tremec 6-speed, Borla exhaust and Recaro seats. The Cobra R # 2 of 300 and led a comfortable life, still has a remarkable history. It was presented to the SEMA show and then bought by Ford SVT division for historic preservation with the car 1. It was later used by Ford Racing as a pace car for several months before being removed.Unfortunately, removing the pace car graphics damage the paint in that a total repaint was necessary and was done by the paint shop Roush. More recently, she held a place in a private collection of prominent museum tour.
