Jacobs has four RBI as Sox defeat Rainiers 9-4 ...

Mike Jacobs got the Sox on the board in the first with a three-run opposite field home run, giving the Sox a 3-2 lead. The home run gives Jacobs 15 on the season, which leads the club.

The Rainiers would retake the lead in the third as Matt Mangini delivered two runs with a single, giving Tacoma a 4-3 advantage.

The Sox would use small ball to overcome the Rainiers late. Ryan Rohlinger led off the fifth inning with a triple to right center. Eric Young Jr. followed with an RBI groundout to second, scoring Rohlinger and tying the game at four. Rohlinger would come through again in the sixth. After a leadoff double by Eliezer Alfonzo and wild pitch, Rohlinger came through with a 14 pitch at-bat, ending in a sacrifice fly to give the Sox a 5-4 lead. A Mike Jacobs sacrifice fly in the seventh pushed the Sox lead to 6-4. Jacobs finished the night 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Chris Nelson would provide the Sox with some insurance in the eighth. After consecutive walks to Young Jr. and Dexter Fowler, Nelson would stroke a bases clearing triple to left. Matt Macri would score Nelson from third with the third sacrifice fly of the night for the Sox to give them a 9-4 lead. Jim Miller pitched a perfect ninth as the Sox improved to 37-47 on the year.

Edgar Gonzalez (1-3, 6.00) picked up his first win in a Sky Sox uniform allowing four runs on ten hits in 6.0 innings. Jarrett Grube (0-1, 7.71) picked up the loss allowing five runs on five hits in 5.0 innings, as the Rainiers fell to 41-44 on the year.

The Sox will look to take two-straight from Tacoma when the teams face off tomorrow night. Billy Buckner (1-3, 5.19) will take the hill for the Sox against Anthony Vasquez (NR). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM MT.
