Early in the 20th century, the restoration and recreation of Colonial Williamsburg, one of the largest historic restorations ever undertaken, was championed by the Reverend Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin and the patriarch of the Rockefeller family, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., along with the active participation of his wife, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, who wanted to celebrate the patriots and the early history of the United States.

Many of the missing Colonial structures were reconstructed on their original sites during the 1930s. Other structures were restored to the best estimates of how they would have looked during the eighteenth century, with all traces of later buildings and improvements removed.

Hi Ian; it really is so good to see you write that about the cottage - everything here is tightly crossed for that happening - and also write about perhaps having found somewhere nice to move to afterwards - please continue to keep us up to date.

Hasn’t your boy dun good! He certainly has written an epic, right down to them breaking into a run in order to reach the car in the dark.I agree it was an exhausting read, but reading was all we had to do; they had to put that long day in, somehow force down still more food and then remember enough about it to write up afterwards.

Louis finished nursery and playgroup this week for the holidays so will have 6 weeks of uninterrupted full on child care! I will have to increase my wine order with tesco home delivery to compensate!

The babies are beautiful must find a way of sending you some photos, I am technically challenged and time strapped, Amalie bangs trains off the computer keys and Louis trys to change the computer toshow toys on Amazon, when that doesn’t work he joins Amalie with train banging!
