Comedian Wanda Sykes to perform at George Mason University
George Mason University, announced the appearance of comedian and actor Wanda Sykes at the Patriot Center, Saturday, Oct. 15. Showtime is 8:00 p.m.
Sykes has been called "one of the funniest stand-up comics" by her peers and ranks among Entertainment Weekly 25 Funniest People in America.
The brash and brassy Wanda Sykes had a decade of experience behind her stand-up comedy when his big break came in 1997, the year of Chris Rock asked her to sign with his new HBO vehicle.She joined the writing team for the Chris Rock Show and remained there for five years, winning the 1999 Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a variety, music or comedy special along the way. His first HBO comedy special, "Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired", began in October 2006 and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2007 for variety, music or comedy special exceptional.
Sykes has been seen in feature films "Evan Almighty" and "Monster-in-Law" and was heard in the animated film "Over the Hedge" and "The Barnyard." She spent five years as part of the critically acclaimed HBO series "Chris Rock Show.
