Driver, 90 and on Medication, Crashes Cadillac Into Redmond Spa and Arrested

A man of 90 years, Redmond was booked and released Thursday afternoon after police say he drove a Cadillac CTS in a foot spa under the influence of prescription drugs.

A news release from the Redmond Police Department, said the man, who turns 91 on Friday, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving under the influence of prescription drugs. Police have not yet released the name of the man, and he has yet to be charged with a crime.

Three persons, the driver, an employee of spa and spa patron-were sent to hospital with minor injuries Thursday afternoon after the incident, the spokesman for the police said Jim Bove. The collision occurred about 1:30 p.m. ET was probably the result of driver error on the gas pedal for the brake, Bove said.

The company, Sunshine Foot Spa is located at 16807 Redmond Way and suffered extensive damage.

Bove said the spa had about 10 people inside at the time of the collision. He said he is very remarkable there were no other injuries or worse.

"They are very lucky," said Bove. "The car crashed a few inches of another employee."

Hanna Hoien worked next door at Emerald City Smoothie, which shares a wall with the spa, at the time of the collision and said he felt like an earthquake.

"Everything shook. Literally, the ground shook," she said.

Hoien said emergency crews arrived within five minutes and others in the busy shopping center also tried to help those who were injured.

"There was a lot of people outside, and everyone of course, came running," she said.

Monica Aydelotte Legacy commercial real estate company management owns the Bellevue building, was on the scene after the collision and said she had never experienced anything like today's crash in the decade She worked as a property manager.

"I'm still kind of amazed," she said. "This is a first.

Emerald City Smoothie coming to Alderwood Mall | Lynnwood Today

Emerald City Smoothie implanted at Alderwood Mall. It will be located in the village open air near REI and Panera Bread.

The store serves hand, healthy smoothies to fresh fruit and protein. They also sell a range of nutritional products.

The Alderwood location scheduled to open at 7 am, hours before the Mall, for customers who want a quick breakfast on-the-go.

"We are delighted to be part of the community Lynnwood and look forward to working with schools through our student program awards free Smoothie," Sylvestre franchise owner Liz told us."We partner with schools to encourage reading and to exercise and reward students with a free smoothie to achieve their goal."

Emerald City Smoothie is planned to open in late October or early November.
