Buff briefs | Ride the Buff

The Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic, an effort to raise more than $1 million in scholarship funds for University of Colorado Boulder students, will be held on Sept. 11 in Boulder.

Cyclists can ride 100-mile, 70-mile, 50-mile or 35-mile rides. Families and recreational riders are encouraged to ride the 14-mile Little Buffalo, which will include snow cones and complimentary face paintings.

Riders should register early, as the ride will be capped at 2,500 cyclists. Online registration of $95 for the longer rides includes a scholarship donation of $45. Registration for the Little Buffalo is $65 for participants 14 and older and $35 for riders from 8 to 13.

Registration for all rides includes a Ride the Buffalo T-shirt, water bottle, aid-station treats, breakfast and lunch.

The event has generated 548 scholarships for good students who need financial support. It is the largest source of scholarships in the College of Arts and Sciences.

As part of its plan for strategic growth, Elevations Credit Union will deploy the MeridianLink platform to automate the opening of new accounts and lending online and in branch. “We’re looking forward to having one platform that will integrate and extend the functionality of all of our existing applications and systems,” says Matthew Henry, Chief Information and Administrative Officer at Elevations Credit Union. “We currently have a lot of disparity between software applications and ancillary processes. By bringing a seamless experience to both our members and staff, we can spend more time serving our membership and less time wrestling with the technology.”

The decision to provide automated online account opening and loan origination was motivated in large part by the staff at Elevations Credit Union. “This was an organizationally-driven initiative,” explains Henry, “in response to input from our staff. We quickly got the message that the applications, we were using were hindering, not helping, our staff. We knew we needed to make a change to support our future growth.”

Elevations Credit Union expects the deployment of the MeridianLink platform to have a positive impact in several areas. “We expect that having a more robust online account opening system will offer our current members another level of convenience,” Henry explains. “We’re also hoping to break down any perceived hurdles to opening an account at Elevations Credit Union, which will help us attract new members.

“In addition, the enhanced functionality in loan processing will help our members to enjoy a wide array of products,” he continues. “We’re looking forward to the increased efficiency this will bring to the lending area, as well.”

Elevations Credit Union also is excited about moving to a paperless environment. “Not only is having eSignatures a great convenience for our membership,” says Henry, “changing to a paperless environment is also important to our staff and our members. It is consistent with our organization’s Green Policy Initiative, which ‘seeks to minimize the impact of our activities on the environment and promote the understanding of sustainability in our business activities.
