Coffee Food Truck Brews Up Business

Andrew Russo was a virgin Coffee 22 when he drank his first drink five years ago in a military mess. "It tasted like muddy water," said Russo, then a military officer. "I was amazed at how he was." But that first meeting he launched a quest to find the perfect cup of coffee and possibly become the owner and operator of a truck of food. The mobile coffee Hawks wheel coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte and cold drinks brewed in the area and Metrowest Boston.

Before launching coffee captain last year, Russo has visited cities like Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, sampling everything from pancakes to sushi, served from food trucks. "You name it, it can be done from a truck," said Russo, who loved the freedom of working from a food truck and I wanted to take advantage of the popularity food truck, in which the option humble blue-collar lunch has evolved into a gourmet dining experience. Russo invested in a solar power truck, complete with two grinders, manual press, commercial drip coffee maker, two blenders for smoothies and cappuccinos, and a refrigerator for dairy products and storage, plus numerous other equipment. His food truck debut was before the start of the Boston Marathon, where he served coffee to countless runners, including an Australian who had never seen a food truck before, and said, “What is this? Can you actually get a decent cup coffee from a truck?”

Q: Espresso is brewed right from the equipment in your truck – is that difficult to do?A: It takes time to get all the equipment in operation since coffee has never been designed by an engineer to be in a truck. Today, openness, for example, there was not enough solar power and generator did not work so great. But you learn to do different things to get to unique operational efficiency.

Q: towns and villages friendly food trucks? A: Permits or documents are different for every city I go. There are no standards. I have nine different Board of Health permits, for example. Some cities also require a permit from the common provider. It's very frustrating but it is the nature of the business.

Taste is a big consideration when it comes to coffee since you surely would not want to drink bland or too strong. Cold brew coffee concentrate makes it tastes better than those that were made with other types of coffee makers. One of the reasons for this is that there is less oil extracted. Also, this can also be because of the less acid and caffeine content. One thing that you will surely love about this machine is that whether the coffee you make is hot or cold, it is excellent tasting the way you have always wanted your coffee to be.
