Two weeks ago I did one of these trips required for the valley and watched the thermometer soars. It was hot.

Today I walked outside my residence Pin and had to go back for a jacket. Winter snuck on us!

I see people stocking up on wood, quilting books and materials. As Yogi Bear stashing away picnic baskets, we gather our supplies for the winter preparing to hibernate in our homes Rim Country if the nest, cave or cabin.

Nowhere else in Arizona you will find a rich heritage of arts and crafts and quilting in the strawberry and pine, and many crafts and quilting is done here, then parked in front of our fireplaces on cold winter days.

The quilts you see in the local raffles are amazing works of art depicting landscapes and snow-covered forests and wildlife of the region.The quilts are part of our American heritage. Since the days of slavery to the AIDS Memorial Quilt, quilts express our different life experiences.

Rim Country Quilt Roundup

I recently read that during the Chicago World's Fair in 1930 during the Great Depression offered $ 7,500 in awards and had 24 000 entries quilt. Now it's time to show our quilts. We have a lot of quilters in the Rim Country, but do not know if we will break that record!

I know it seems strange to devote an entire day to tell you to buy your fabric.

But if you're like me, you can not just make one-of-the-moment decisions about things like that. I got you thinking about your choices yesterday and today, you should probably just buckle down and decide. You can not really go wrong, if it ends up looking different than you expected, simply call a "quilt" and do not worry!

Fabric by choosing a couple more tips for those of you still debating:

You want the colors in the same family (green, blue, etc.) To be almost identical or different enough that they do not clash. One way to do this is to buy the fabrics of the same "line" (as I chose the line Bandana Gypsy). Hobby Lobby sells several sets of coordinated fabrics are adorable, and of course online fabric stores group their lines together. You probably want the impression that you choose to be somewhat similar, for example, I first tried to mount a blue print checked with all my other fabrics swirly in my sample. The vichy really stands out and drew attention to itself in a way that I did not.So I put out something more "swirly." You will also probably need to have some impressions bolder (or large drawings) and some prints less fat (or small) so that it is not overwhelming when you look at it. And it goes without saying, I hope, but please choose the fabrics and colors that you enjoy watching! You will be watching them every day, and if you hate them, you'll have no motivation to keep your quilt.

So go buy your fabric! I ordered mine last night, and we will have several days of ground and preparation model as we wait for the fabric to come in.
